Ted Cruz: Obamacare Infringes on Religious Liberty

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas.) said that Congress should repeal Obamacare, in part because it infringes on Americans’ religious liberty.

The conservative senator said “every word” of the Affordable Care Act should be repealed during a speech he gave for the Faith & Freedom Coalition Conference on Thursday in Washington, D.C.
“To tell the Catholic Church, to tell people of faith whose faith prohibits it, that they must – their charities, their hospitals — must provide abortifacients, must provide contraceptives and pay for it, regardless of the teachings of their faith,” Cruz said.

As a rule, I avoid the weekly news magazines. They are filled with bad fiction disguised as “reporting,” and if I really feel the need to read mediocre prose I can always rely on the work of America’s growing horde of creative-writing professors. Nonetheless, I recently stumbled across a post in Time’s Swampland blog titled, “Obamacare Incompetence,” and succumbed to morbid curiosity. It seems that Joe Klein, a usually reliable Democrat hack, is deeply unhappy with the slow and clumsy implementation of the “Affordable Care Act.”
